Women, keep silent!

1 Corinthians 14:34  Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.

For some time I have heard this passage preached and written regarding  women in ministry. I have read and heard both sides of the argument, and my role in ministry has been questioned.   There are a few things that I have learned that I would like to share with you here.

The Lord has anointed many women to do Kingdom work.  Some are teachers, prophets, pastors, evangelists and yes, even apostles.  So in seeing these women rise up and fulfill the calling the Lord has placed upon them, how does this scripture fit in?

Well, first we need to read what  the scripture says, exactly, and the time it was written in and in the context in was written.

This was written in the first century.  Women sat on one side of the church, and the men on the other side of the church.  Women were probably not educated as the men were.  As a result, they would have questions during the sermons.  Paul was literally asking them to respect the service, and to ask the questions to their husbands when they got home.

The word “speak”  here in the original Greek  refers to chatting, questioning and arguing.

The word “silence” refers to having a calm undisruptive spirit, and be open to learning.

Paul was emphasizing order in the church, not that women should never speak or be active in the church.

Understanding the position of women in the early Church is important because it establishes the foundation for the ministry of women in the Church today.

Women were very instrumental in the church. Let’s look at a few examples:

  • Intercessors

Women in the early church were intercessors in prayer.  In the city of Philippi, a group of women met by the river to pray

Act 16:13  And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.

  • Women were recipients of the Holy Spirit

The book of Acts records that the Holy Spirit came upon all, men and women:

Acts 2:17  ‘AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS IN THE LAST DAYS, SAYS GOD, THAT I WILL POUR OUT OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL FLESH; YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS.

Acts 2:18  AND ON MY MENSERVANTS AND ON MY MAIDSERVANTS I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT IN THOSE DAYS; AND THEY SHALL PROPHESY.

  • There were prophetess:

Acts 21:9  Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.

  • Women were Deacons in the church

Rom 16:2  That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.

The word “succourer”  means one who stands before, a chief leader.

  • We have an account of a woman Apostle:

Rom 16:7  Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

We see here that Junia is noted as an apostle, a fellow prisoner.

As a pastor, if you have a strong conviction that women should not take an active role in ministry, then abide by your conviction for conscience sake.

I leave you with this last verse:

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

May you be richly blessed this day.

Prophetic Word 2010

By Claude Widmer

Psalm 10, 17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, 18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more. (NIV)

As we have entered this New Year with prayer and in the Presence of the Lord, he has been speaking very clearly and the message that rang in our ears was unmistaken. As we look to Him this coming year in all that is happening on the globe, I believe that he will do a special work in the Body of Christ to meet the needs of the so many oppressed in today’s world.

Please let me share the word of the Lord that we have received for this year.

For indeed says the Lord, I have heard the cry of my people. It is almost like in the days of Moses, when the people were oppressed and heavy burdens were laid upon them. So it is today, not only in the world, but also in my Body.

My people have been oppressed and nobody is there to release them and bring them into true freedom. There are many so called  fathers in my Body, but a lot of them do not represent me. They are fathers when all is good and as long as the children obey and act as they want them to act. In fact, they are not even caring and providing for them, but they are enriching themselves from their children.  There are not many true shepherds that really care for my people and feed them and raise them up into full authority.

But I have heard the cry of the afflicted and seen their hearts desires says the Lord. There are many that had a longing for true Fathers and Mothers in my Body and I have been raising up true Fathers and Mothers. But they have been oppressed themselves says the Lord. But this time is over and I am raising them up all around the world. The new Generation of Fathers and Mothers have been laying there like seeds under the ground.

It has taken a long time for them to mature and they had to endure many Fathers and Mothers that did not treat them the way I wanted them to. But I have become their Father and their Mother. And as David grew up under Saul and yet grew into a true man after my own heart that was leading Israel well, so have they grown up under a lot of persecution and oppression, but they have not been corrupted by it, but been purified through the fire and shine like stars now.

What has been hidden will now be revealed says the Lord. So I want you to know that many that have been oppressed over the years, will now be released. The fatherless will no longer be fatherless and those that were terrified will have to fear no more! For I am going to change things quickly now and those people that have abused their authority, will no longer be able to abuse it. For I myself will fight for the cause of the weak and I myself will be releasing the oppressed.

It will indeed be like in the days of my Prophets, where I spoke that I would no longer delay my words, but make them come true quickly and swiftly. In your mind you will think: But how is this possible oh Lord?  But with me all things are possible and I am able to change any situation around and work in every circumstance.

So watch as the true Fathers are released and know that they will bring freedom to my people like Moses of old did. They will put out their rod and miracles will happen, like when Moses stretched out the rod at the sea and a way was made that did not exist before. So they will make a way where there was no way before and my people will not only walk into freedom, but will start taking the new land that belongs to them.

This will not only look nice, but will cause lots of trouble for the existing structure that is holding everything under control and imprisoned. But when you see the structures breaking apart and some things turn sour, do not be afraid, because it is indeed my work says the Lord. Structure has given you guidelines and security, but no longer shall you trust in manmade things, but I will be your security and I will be your guide says the Lord!

You have been led by the structure of the church and it has given you safety, but no longer shall anything else than I give you a hold. For I am your God and I will lead you by the hand. I will direct your path and I will teach you what true church is about. For where I am in your midst, true church has started (Matthew 18,20)!

This will also be the sign of the new fathers. They will no longer point you to themselves or to their organization, but they will raise you up and help you to know me! For as I have shown you the Father, so will they show you the Father!

So when trouble arises and all is not like before anymore, look up to me. No man will be able to terrify you any longer, for I am defending the fatherless and the oppressed and I myself will watch over them says the Lord.

Walking as an Apostle

The Apostolic walk is a difficult walk, and one that not many can bare.

There are those that I appoint as Apostles in secret, and refuse the call.  There are those that claim to be Apostles for their own gain  that I have not anointed, and there are those Apostles that are still hidden and will make their appearance in the world and in my church.

These are the true men and women that I have called Apostles, those who do not seek titles or desire  to be called Apostles, but have a burden for my church and desire to see it flow in all that I have for them.

These true Apostles build structures and work side by side with others in ministry, never seeking fame for their own name but to exalt My name.

Look closely, for they are among you, hidden, not making any announcements but announcing one name only;  That of the King of kings and Lord of lords.

My Apostles are rising even now, they are being birthed in pain, it testing, in refinement and in my fire.  They are the ones that have passed the test and are ready to fulfill my great commission, to make disciples of all nations says the Lord.

I see Jesus placing crowns on those whom He has called Apostles and anointing them for the work that lies ahead.

I am anointing you now, rise and take the scepter and walk in the authority that lies before you says the Lord.

Casting Lots

Saul of Tarus on the road to Damascus

Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus

Acts 1:26 And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
(NKJ)

Jesus appeared to his apostles for  forty days after his resurrection. During this time, Jesus spoke many things to them pertaining to the Kingdom of God.  He also left  instructions;  do not leave Jerusalem but to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit.

The apostles had witnessed many things with Jesus,  including Him  being taken up into a cloud.

One of the things the apostles wanted to do was to fill the position Judas left, the apostle that betrayed Jesus and later hung himself.  Now there were eleven apostles, and not the twelve that Jesus originally appointed.

The men got together and Acts 1:23 says that  they proposed two men for the job: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

They did what was customary in that time,  they cast lots.  The lot fell unto Matthias, and he was appointed as apostle.

Something I would like to point out is that the Bible says  ¨they proposed¨ a new Apostle.

When Jesus appointed the twelve apostles, the Bible says that he spent the entire evening in prayer asking the Father whom to appoint.

Luke 6:12-13 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.  And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:(NKJ)

So who became the newest apostle?  I would like to say that it was Saul of Tarsus, not Matthias.   Man cannot choose who should be the next apostle,  that is up to the Lord.   We never hear from Matthias again.

When someone is called into apostleship, they will receive a direct call from Jesus.  We have the example of the original twelve, and the example of Saul of Tarsus

Acts 9:4-5  Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”(NKJ)

Have you ever tried to help God out with something, then find out later you just messed it up or made it worse?

Perhaps there is a void in your life, or maybe  something was removed  and you feel you need to fill it.  If that´s  the case, let God fill it.  Pray to the Father  as Jesus did.   Receive His instruction, and try not to cast any lots into your life.

May you be richly blessed.

You Can Hear My Voice

By Mark J. Chirrona

Truly the hungry and the thirsty, in this hour, are seeking water, and they have found none. But I will open up rivers in high places, and I will water the wasteland, and the desert shall blossom like the rose. And I will satisfy your desire in scorched places, for I have seen the journey of My people. I have seen the affliction with which they have been afflicted.

“I have walked with you through your dark places. I have held you and caressed you in your dry places. Yet, because of the nature of the journey in this season, it has been difficult for many to recognize My hand. I would say unto you now, while you cannot see My hand, you do know My voice. Take comfort in the fact that while you are waiting to see My hand of visitation and My hand of vindication, yet you can hear My voice.

“For I will not leave you without a word; I will not leave you without a declaration; I will not leave you without a decree; for I speak, and it stands fast. I command, and it is done. I will bring again water out of the rock—not the rock of man’s making but the Rock of My choosing. Out of the wounded side and the belly of My Son there comes in this season a mighty torrent, a river that shall come out of heaven in this next season and flood the saints, and they shall rejoice in the river by My glory,” saith the Lord.

“But you would say with the multitude of voices, ‘How can I, oh God, in this season distinguish Your voice? At one time, I thought I knew it well. But where I have been and what I have been through has challenged my ability to feel as though I could rightly recognize the voice of the Shepherd.’

”Hear now, My child, I call you by name. My Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you belong to Me. There is never a day that has gone by [on which] I have not witnessed to your spirit that you are Mine. Every time you open the Holy Book, My Spirit speaks to you. Yet because you have been surrounded by many a test and by many a trial, you have given your ear to the voices of temptation and to the voices of distraction.

“But My voice is clear and certain, and you already know it. Do not allow the enemy to cause you to say in your heart, ‘I do not know the voice of my Shepherd.’ The only voice you have ever followed in consistency, that has brought you health and safety, is My voice.

”I will not leave you. I will not forsake you. I speak, and as you listen and respond … I will deliver you from your distractions. I will set you free from your hindrances. I will break the chain of your temptations, and yes, I will restore to you the confidence that you can truly hear My voice.

“For you were created to hear My voice. You were born to hear My voice. You were destined to hear My voice, and you were destined to respond and say, ‘Here am I.’ Oh, child of God, not only do you know My voice, [but] I know your voice. I have heard your cries. I have heard your tears. I have heard your wrestlings. I have heard your tumults. I know your voice and I assure you, you will see My hand.

“Know for a certainty, I am the Lord; there is none other. And when I speak, every other voice goes dumb. Do not wonder or ponder in your hearts, ‘Does not the Lord see? Does not the Lord hear?’ For I am the Lord who made the eye, and I am the Lord who made the ear, and I both see and hear, and in this season, I will vindicate My name amongst the elect. For there are many voices rising in the earth claiming they speak for me, but know this, My child, when I speak, everyone will know I am the Lord and there is none other.

”I will give you assurance after assurance after assurance that I am leading you by My good Spirit. Trust Me! Trust Me! Trust Me, for I will not fail you. I will not forsake you. For lo, I am with you, and if that is not sufficient, I am for you, and child of God, if that is not sufficient, know you not I am in you, both to will and to do of My good pleasure? Trust in Me. Trust in My voice. Trust in My power, and watch what I will do.

“For in not many days hence, there will come a fresh moving in your life that you have cried out for, for months. In not many days hence, there will come a fresh opening in your spirit. In not many days hence, there will come fresh manna to you from the depths of heaven into the depths of your soul, and you will enter into a summer of the miraculous, for I have decreed it and I have declared it,” saith the Lord.

The Rain has Begun to Fall

Word received June 22, 2009

As the rain falls upon the land, so will My Spirit. It will fall upon the barren land, for my people cry out for revival.

Where there was once fire, refiners fire, I am now sending my rain. My fire has purified my people, and now is the time for Me to drench them with my Spirit. Prepare for the rain, prepare for my outpouring says the Lord.

Many have cried out saying, ¨Use me¨ and I have put you through the fire, the purifying fire. Now that fire will be put out by my rain. My fire has cleansed you, and has prepared you for such a time as this.

Refresh yourself in my rain, refresh yourself in my glory, for my outpouring draws near says the Lord.

The Lord your God is with you

Deuteronomy 31:7 Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it.(NKJ)

I remember years back when the Lord placed a strong desire within me to know more about Him. I began to take Bible courses to expand my knowledge, not knowing where this would lead me.

The church I was attending at the time did not seem very interested in what I was learning, except  for one associate pastor. Although I tried to share what the Lord was doing in my life, I never received any encouragement from my pastor at the time.

I remember later asking him in a leaders meeting if he would ever open up the pulpit to have others preach or share, especially those with a calling and desire to work for the Lord. The reaction was not very positive one.  It was one of control.

I realized that the pastor  I had at the time would not encourage me or anyone else in growing and maturing in the Lord.    Even with that experience, the Lord did teach me a few things

In time,  we began attending another church, and this pastor was very different from the first.  He gave up his pulpit quite easily, as his desire was to raise up more workers for the field.  His encouraging words and positive attitude on those with a right heart to serve the Lord went a long way.

As leaders in the Body of Christ, we are to cause those under us to inherit the blessings the Lord has for them.

As I read through the story of Moses and Joshua, their obedience to the Lord caused the Israelites to inherit lands, conquer territory, overthrow kings and to live a fruitful life filled with His blessings.

The Lord said several times to Joshua to be be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

This is contrary to what the world is like. In the world,  everyone is looking out for themselves, and we live in a time where greed and selfishness reign.

It is up to the leaders and and the Body of Christ to encourage  those with a right heart directed towards God to step out.   Have they received a vision for ministry, a calling, a burden? Encourage it, and do not feel threatened by someone under you.

Let us work together to  lead His bride into their promised land, to conquer and to be that shining city that sits on a hill.

Blessings
