Defend your Testimony

Have you noticed that the world loves the plain, the common, the lackluster or even the average? In other words, it hates the miraculous, the Heavenly.

In the book of John 9:6-7 we read the account of the man blind from birth. Jesus heals him and he broke free of the daily routine and became an attraction. He became noticed and had a testimony.

In the book of John chapter 11 , Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, smashing to pieces the mundane and the predictable, he was an instant celebrity with a tremendous testimony.

The authorities of the status quo were shaken out of their comfort zone, there was a risk of losing their grip on the people. The culture, the society, the congregation were in danger of seeing the light and waking up. Something had to be done, so they plotted to bribe, intimidate, to silence or even kill these men because of their testimony.

The self-appointed gatekeepers of  progress and salvation take it upon themselves to make sure the average and the plain continue to rule and dominate this time on Earth. Many such people find comfort in the thought that we are “all in the same boat”, “all at the same level.”

If you have ever attempted to start an innovative project, ministry or business you know what I mean. Humanity pays a very high price for having the worldly running things.

Certainly the blind man and Lazarus were precursors of the greatest testimony in the whole universe, the Lord Jesus – His Life, His willing sacrifice and His resurrection. In Him, the abundance of loving miracles was and is too much for most, even today.

The Pharisees were upset with the miracles and those who took part in them:

John 11:47 -48 “What are we going to do? For this man performs many miraculous signs. If we let Him alone like this, everybody will believe in Him! …

The world wants to make us believe Jesus was not whom He said He was, that He did not really do what He did and that the Bible is not factual but a mere fairy tale.

But you KNOW that you KNOW what He has done in your life. Guard and defend your testimony in Jesus with all your heart, it keeps you and others around you on the narrow path.

Thank you Father for in You alone there is Hope, Wisdom and Peace beyond what the world can provide. Your people are now free of fear and limitations because  through Jesus Christ we have access to Heavenly Miracles, Amen.

One Response to Defend your Testimony

  1. “But you KNOW that you KNOW what He has done in your life. Guard and defend your testimony in Jesus with all your heart, it keeps you and others around you on the narrow path.”

I needed to hear that just about now! Thanks :)
