There is no greater blessing than to pour out the love and grace of Jesus, and what a privilege it was for me to be asked to return to Nicaragua to do just that.
This years’ mission trip was from September 27th to October 12th. Our team was comprised of six women: Our team leader – Marti Peterson, Ruth Brown, Lisa Williams, Marilyn Gelvin, Marilyn Guggenmos and I.
Four of us women left on the 3:00 a.m bus from Costa Rica to Managua, Nicaragua. In Managua, we met up with Lisa Williams arriving from Florida. We then boarded our 2:00 p.m flight to Bluefields, where Ruth Brown later joined us for an evening of prayer and to review our schedule.
Tuesday the 28th of September we boarded the panga to Orinoco, and I opened our womens’ retreat with a preaching about our Citizenship in Heaven. We were pleasantly surprised to see over 100 women attending, including women from the neighboring churches. The evening meetings were open to all.
We were so very blessed in Orinoco. The pastors and leaders had prepared for our arrival with prayer and fasting, and as a result we had incredible worship and many women received the gift of speaking in tongues. We were able to share with them the importance of spending time in Gods’ presence, and had times of “soaking.” Here we listened to soft music and received from Him. We had excellent preaching on the Fathers’ love, the Law and the Spirit, and the Bloodline of Jesus Christ.
The last day of our retreat in Orinoco, we received the terrible news that Marti Petersons’ husband had suddenly passed away. She left for the States the very next day along with Marilyn Guggenmos who came with her from Oregon. In addition, Ruth Brown left to continue her missions work in Bluefields, and Lisa Williams also had to leave due to an ill family member. This left Marilyn Gelvin and me to finish out the retreat in the other communities. We had a local join us, Ella, which turned out to be a tremendous blessing.
The retreat continued with visiting the Community of Tasbapounie, and then a week in Corn Island, finishing off the last weekend in Bluefields.
Many women received the gift of speaking in tongues, we had preaching on Knowing Gods’ Voice, The Prodigal Son and “soaking” in His presence.
During this time the Lord stretched me, I felt challenged and my faith was increased as I could only depend on Him. I am the one who left blessed and with a greater desire to continue in His work.
I would like to thank you for your prayer support during this time.
May you be richly blessed!
