1 Kings 17:7 -9 And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”(NKJ)
In the book of Kings, the prophet Elijah prophesies to King Ahab that their would be no rain in the land for three years. The Lord then leads Elijah to the Brook Cherith. Here, Elijah was fed by ravens, and had water to sustain him.
Because of the drought, the brook dries up and Elijah finds himself being directed by God to move again.
Have you ever been in a place where it is comfortable that you don´t want to move? Here Elijah had water, shade and food was brought to him. Yet, it was time to get up and move onto something different.
In my life, I have had several drying brooks, but we often don´t like change, do we. We enjoy our comfort zone and have a difficult time moving.
Sometimes our brook needs to dry up for us to move on. The brook could be looked at as a place where everything is nice and calm, and a routine has set it.
Perhaps God is nudging you to move on and do something different. When the brook dries up, it can only lead to something greater. When we move beyond the brook, we receive new revelation from the Lord. When Elijah left, it is then his ministry increased. He was able to call fire down from heaven to consume the false prophets.
Today, we don´t really need to call fire down from heaven. We have the anointing and power from the holy Spirit that will lead us to to great and mighty things in His name.
So what say you, has your brook dried up? Is it time for you to move from the dry place into something spectacular?
Get up and get moving on your next phase of ministry.

I can completely empathize with this post. Recently, I experienced a drying-up of blessings, even my very livelihood. I didn’t understand why a new life with such promise was now experiencing such dryness, and I was brought to despair. I tend to be rather dense at times, but I eventually discovered that the Lord was merely trying to get my attention. The dry land He had placed me on was meant to enable me to answer my calling to write, and I wasn’t doing it. The Lord never dries up our blessings “just because”. We always have to dig in and get to the point. Thank you for your words.
Blessings to you, and be encouraged to write for Him.

I bear total witness to this on the “brook drying”, and that God is stirring things up,but more important stirring me up ,and I’m sure much of the body of Christ ,to a greater hunger in every way and a new passion that can only come from impartation from HIM,! cause were so trusting Jesus, and are just hanging on every word
He says, and we realize that there are some things we are doing out of ritual, not completely, but we need Him so fresh, and noone but Him can fill that.He is our “ALL IN ALL”, and He’s a jealous God worthy of our attention and affection, to be first in everything.Moving greater in Jesus and His Love because in that dry place,no matter how far we thought or had an idea of His Love we have a new revelation that were so destitute without Christ , more than ever before, because He reveals there’s much greater revelation on His love ,and the treasure of this great Love that He wants to reveal.Everything that happens, and all the tribulation and testing is to reveal and know Him greater and only His
uncompromising,”lay down your life”, kind of Love THAT TRANSFORMS EVERYTHING and it’s white hot!!!! and everything that dosen’t line up with the Lord, has to go,and it’s purifyingand it’s cleansing, and it’s healing and it’s so good!!!!! This is a place where nothing evil can stand, only overcoming conquoring Love that gave all,and so in this dry place those revelations of giving all are greater revealed!!!! Praise God then, for the dry places as we seek His face……..
I have learned in my Christian journey that when God says, “move!” you move. Obeying God is one thing I will not hesitate to do! It has always worked out for the best for me and my family. Trust and obey for there’s no other way. Awesome post my friend. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. I so love you my friend. Blessings!
