Conducting a Virus Scan

08 Jan

Not noticing that my computer had become slower, I continued to work as if there was nothing wrong.  It was not until it nearly crashed that I discovered that it had a virus.

My computer episode reminded me of the frog story.  In case you don´t know the  story, it is about a frog that sits in water.  Little by little the water becomes warm, then  hot.   The frog never notices that the water has become  so hot, that he eventually dies.

Sin is the same way.  It can creep up on us  so subtly, that we  don´t notice that it´s there.    If we don´t  realize the sin  operating in our life , it may take a crisis or another person to point it out so that it can be dealt with.

So what do we do when we discover the sin?  It´s easy.  Just like conducting   a virus scan, do the same with the Lord.

Ask the Lord to show you the point of entry.  When it is found, confess it, or hit delete.  Believe that Jesus has repaired it,  renew yourself afresh and get back on track.

All of us run into sin at one time or another in our lives.    We are not to feel any condemnation when we realize the sin, because the word says  in Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.(NKJ)
Praise God we have Jesus to help us when we obtian a virus.   As we reach out to Him, He will hold out His hand and gently set us on the right path.  We will walk stronger  and bolder as we continue our walk in Him.

Blessings.

    Good reminder, Yvette,

Also, spiritual disciplines like meditation, solitude, etc. are necessary in getting back on track. Culture exerts an often subtle but constant and strong influence on us. If we yield to it over time, the habits of the flesh build. Many assume that changing is as simple as flipping a switch, but faith doesn’t work like that. Instead, it works like a muscle; The more we exercise our spiritual muscles, the stronger they get.

“Praise God we have Jesus to help us when we obtain a virus!”…What insight you have, Yvette! Relating to a computer virus creeping up on your computer, to how sin creeps up in our lives…Fantastic!

Awesome. We need to bring all things to the light. Every spec of darkness. Its in the dark that the moss grows.

Amen! That is such a critical reminder. I really need to remember to ask God to help point out the sins in my life (ouch!) , but if I want to be more like Him (which I do, do, do!) I’m gonna have to let Him into those areas too. God Bless You!
